Ted Thornton practices in the areas of business, labor and employment law with experience in workers’ compensation appeals, wrongful discharge and discrimination cases and contract disputes.
Mr. Thornton advises and represents employers in proceedings before, ODJFS, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Industrial Commission of Ohio, the Equal Opportunity Commission and Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Mr. Thornton also provides day to day counsel on a full range of personnel issues, including management rights in disciplining and terminating employees, and both drafts and reviews employment manuals and handbooks and other employee policies.
In addition, Mr. Thornton practices general business law, which includes the formation of businesses, assists in the purchase and sale of businesses and provides general business advice.
Mr. Thornton also has represented clients in the negotiating and drafting of oil, gas and pipeline leases. In addition, he has represented coal and limestone mine interests as general counsel and also in matters before MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration).
